Tognum Selected to Deliver Airport Power Supply Systems

Posted on April 21, 2009

Tognum has been selected to deliver six complete emergency power supply systems for the new Berlin Brandenburg International (BBI) airport. The MTU Onsite Energy emergency power supply systems consist of 6-MTU 20V4000 G23 engines with a total overall output of approximately 12.7 MW.

The scope of delivery also includes emergency power supply switchgear, cooling, exhaust gas and fuel systems as well as intake and exhaust air systems. Delivery is scheduled between August and December 2009.

Expansion of the airport began in 2006 with passenger volumes to range between 22 and 25 million per year by 2011. Additional expansion is likely over the coming years which would require additional emergency power supply systems.
