GE Engines Supply Power To Tea-Processing Region

Posted on April 12, 2010

Bangladesh recently received a Fenchuganj 51 MW rental power plant from Barakatullah Electro Dynamics Ltd. The plant is powered by 19 GE J620 Jenbacher gas engines and was installed to help reduce electricity shortages in the country's northeastern Sylhet District, a tea-producing area.

The new facility is the first of several emergency "rental" power plants the Bangledesh government plans to install to help ease energy shortages. The country's current energy demands exceed 6000 MW, but regional power producers are able to supply about 3600 to 4300 MW.
