PrintSiemens Supplies Biomass Power Plant

Siemens Energy has received an order from Aker Solutions to supply a steam turbine generator to a biomass-fired combined heat and power plant in the U.K. Aker is a provider of engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning services to the nature resources and energy markets.
The plant is designed to have an operating capacity of 50 MW and is scheduled to begin commercial operation in late 2012. The plant will be fired by a range of harvested wood and wood waste, totaling approximately 400 000 tons per year.
