Dresser-Rand Part Of Recycled Fuel Initiative

Posted on April 25, 2011

Dresser-Rand Group Inc. has received an order from Valero Energy Corp.’s joint venture company, Diamond Green Diesel LLC, to supply the critical rotating equipment for a new unit that will produce renewable diesel fuel.

The project will use a hydroprocessing process from Honeywell’s UOP known as the UOP/Eni Ecofining process to convert recycled animal fats, recycled cooking oils and other feedstocks into green diesel fuel, Dresser-Rand said. The feedstock for the plant will be supplied by the other joint venture partner, Darling International Inc., a provider of rendering, recycling and recovery products to the nation’s food industry.

The plant will be located in Norco, Louisiana, U.S.A., near Valero’s St. Charles refinery site and is expected to produce 137 million gpy of the renewable fuel, considered to be a second generation fuel, Dresser-Rand said. Dresser-Rand will supply critical rotating equipment for this project, including two reciprocating compressors, a DATUM centrifugal compressor and controls system.
