Turbine Set To Bangladesh
MHPS receives order for power plant equipment; 410 MW GTCC plant to be one of country’s largest
Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Ltd. (MHPS) has received an order for a gas turbine and steam turbine set for the Bheramara gas turbine combined-cycle (GTCC) power plant to be developed by North-West Power Generation Co. Ltd. (NWPGCL).
The prime contractor is Marubeni Corp. The gas turbine and steam turbine set will be supplied to Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (L&T) of India, a technology, engineering, construction and manufacturing company entrusted with construction of the power plant by Marubeni Corp. on an EPC basis. Shipments of the ordered equipment will be started in September 2015.
The Bheramara plant will be constructed in Khulna District approximately 150 km northwest of Dhaka, Bangladesh's capital city. A gross output of more than 410 MW will make it one of the largest GTCC power plants in Bangladesh, meeting approximately 5% of the country's total power demand. MHPS will manufacture and supply an M701F4 gas turbine and a steam turbine for the project.
NWPGCL is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), a state-operated entity executing power supply to Bangladesh's northwest region.
