New Supply Contracts for GE

GE Transportation’s marine diesel engine business announced it will supply Crescent Towing, New Orleans, Louisiana, U.S.A., with two, 12-cylinder, 7FDM medium-speed diesel engines. For the newbuild project, the two 12-cylinder diesel engines will provide a power output of 6 500 shaft horsepower. The tugboat, which will be built by Washburn and Doughty Associates Inc., at its East Boothbay Harbor, Maine, U.S.A. shipyard, will operate in Savannah, Georgia, U.S.A. starting in 2006. The 29.8 m by 11.2 m by 4.8 m complete American Bureau of Shipping-class tug will have low profile stacks and a wheelhouse with 360-degree visibility. The tug will have a speed of 14 knots.

GE also announced the signing of a purchase order with Multraship for the supply of an additional two 12-cylinder 7FDM diesel engines. The engines will power a new Carrousel system tug being built for Multraship. This is the second new build Carrousel tug to be powered by GE medium speed engines. The compact Carrousel tug will use two GE medium-speed diesel engines, each rated at 3 070 shaft horsepower with a total system propulsion power of 6 140 shaft horsepower.
