Double Contract Win for Wood

Posted on December 14, 2006

Wood Group Light Industrial Turbines Ltd (WGLIT) has won two gas turbine overhaul contracts in Europe with Wintershall AG, of Germany and with Fluxys SA, in Belgium. For Wintershall AG, Germany’s largest producer of oil and natural gas, Wood will overhaul a Siemens Tornado gas turbine, one of seven in operation at the Jakhira power plant in Libya. The Tornado will be overhauled and performance tested at WGLIT’s facility in Aberdeen, Scotland with the company also responsible for the installation and commissioning of the gas turbine, once the engine has been returned.

The second contract from Fluxys SA is to WGLIT’s Dubai-based operation, Wood Group Engineering Services (Middle East) Ltd (WGES) for the overhaul and upgrade of a Solar Centaur 40 gas turbine operated at the client’s Winksele gas compression plant in Belgium. The Winksele plant forms part of a 3730 km natural gas transport network operated by Fluxys throughout Belgium.

The engine overhaul and upgrade work, to be performed at WGES’ turbine facility in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, includes replacing many of its components with new, latest generation parts, designed and manufactured under Wood Group’s APM (Advanced Parts Manufacture) program. WGES will also be responsible for the installation and commissioning of the gas turbine once it has been returned to the Winksele plant.
