Alstom Trains for Germany

Posted on December 22, 2008

German rail operator LNVG1 has placed a US$39 million order with Alstom Transport for 10 new Coradia Lint regional trains. These trains - destined for Lower Saxony - will be delivered in June 2010. This is the second order for Coradia Lint trainsets that Alstom has received this year from LNVG. The contract, which includes spares and service, will enable the operator to continue to modernize its fleet of regional trains.

These diesel trains will have two coaches and will be designed and produced at Alstom’s Salzgitter site in Germany. Each train can accommodate up to 127 passengers and travels at up to 120 kph. They are 95% recyclable and have filters that cut soot particle emissions by 95%. The continuous low floor, entry steps that can be lowered and raised, and gangways between the coaches make it easier to access the train and move around on board, particularly for people with reduced mobility.
