Posted on December 25, 2008

Electro-Motive Diesel, Inc. (EMD) announced that Canadian National Railway (CNR) will take delivery in early 2010 of 40 SD70M-2 locomotives. This follows a recent order for 25 locomotives of the same type that will be delivered in early 2009. The EMD SD70M-2 model meets United States EPA Tier 2 emissions standards and has been developed for the North American freight locomotive market as well as other railways around the world. This model uses the 710 Series diesel engine and is rated at 4300 traction horsepower. These orders will have EMD's Q-Cab which is designed to improve operator comfort.
