GE Lunches Upgrade to Mobile Power Unit

Posted on December 4, 2008

In order to offer faster, more reliable products to bridge the gap between energy outages and dependable power, GE Energy announced the latest enhancement to its trailer-mounted mobile power unit, the TM2500+. According to GE, the new unit offers a 30% increase in power from a footprint 75% smaller than its predecessor. The upgraded version of the TM2500+ incorporates GE’s LM2500 aeroderivative gas turbine with the Brush 170ER generator. The upgraded unit provides up to 34 MW.

Now packaged on a two-trailer system with top-mounted air inlet filter and exhaust assemblies, GE’s TM2500+ requires just over 150 square meters of space. The unit achieves full power in less than 10 minutes with 41.1% efficiency with an average noise level of only 88 dBa. It can be applied in either 60 or 50 Hz applications and can operate on natural gas or liquid distillate fuels. Water injection can be used to achieve NOx levels down to 25 ppm.
