Laser Processing Expanding In Global Turbine Engine Manufacturing

Prima North America's Laserdyne Systems has received two orders for its Laserdyne 795 multi-axis laser systems. The first order is from a Russian turbine engine manufacturer and the second is from an American aerospace engine manufacturer. The company reports that these orders indicate that the application of laser processing in the global turbine engine manufacturing business is expanding.

Component and OEM manufacuturers are responding to the need for the latest multi-axis laser technology, the company said. Older technology used in earlier generations of the Laserdyne Systems equipment no longer fulfills demanding production and quality requirements of the newer engine designs and also, for refurbishing existing engines.

The recent orders, with a total value exceeding US$2 million, are for Laserdyne 795 XS systems equipped with BeamDirector and CL50k lasers to be used for a variety of laser drilling applications.
