Siemens To Equip China Metro With Signaling Technology

Siemens has received an order from Nanjing Research Institute of Electronic Technology (NRIET) to supply communicatins based train control system (CBTC) signaling technology for Line 1 of the metro system in Suzhou, China. Suzhou, one of the oldest cities in the east of China, is about 80 km from Shanghai and has around six million inhabitants.

The scope of supply for the almost 26 km long route includes the Trainguard MT CBTC system with Airlink, the free-propagation radio (WLAN) system, the Sicas ECC electronic interlocking system and AzS axle counters, cooperating with NRIET in the Vicos OC 501 operations control system.

Siemens is acting as a subcontractor for the main contractor NRIET, who is responsbile for the overall integration of the installation. The end customer is Suzhou Metro Corporation and the start of passenger services is scheduled for mid-2012.
