Oil Company Increases Output With Major Equipment Order
GE will be supplying Saudi oil company Saud Aramco with nearly US$500 million of equipment and services for the expansion of the Shaybah gas-oil processing facilities, located in the southeast region of the country. Currently, the field produces 750 000 barrels per day, and the expansion is expected to increase output to 1 million barrels per day.
To generate an additional 729 MW of power, GE will be supplying 11 7EA gas turbine generators, 44 compressors, motors and services. The expansion will enable the producer to recover and process 2.4 billion standard cubic feet per day of low-sulfur sweet gas and extract 264 000 barrels per day of natural gas liquid, which is used in petrochemical applications.
The gas turbines will be equipped with GE’s Dry Low NOx combustion systems to reduce emissions, and all 44 compressors will be driven by GE motors. The equipment is scheduled to be shipped in the first half of 2012.
