Adding Power To South Korea

Cogeneration order for Mitsubishi J class gas turbine; combined-cycle plant to produce up to 436 MW

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. (MHI) has received an order from KEPCO Engineering & Construction Co. Inc. (KEPCO E&C) for the core equipment of a combined heat and power (CHP) natural gas-fired generation plant, including an M501J gas turbine.

The CHP plant is to be developed by DS Power Co. Ltd. in Osan City, Gyeonggi-do, approximately 50 km south of Seoul, South Korea, and is scheduled to go into operations in March 2016.

The gas turbine combined-cycle CHP plant will have a power generation capacity of 436 MW to meet sharply expanding electricity demand in the area. It will also supply steam for district heating for a new residential area.

DS Power, the end user of the CHP plant project, is a special purpose company (SPC) jointly established by Daesung Industrial Co. Ltd. KEPCO E&C is an affiliate of Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPC).
