MAN Diesel & Turbo South Africa Ltd., a local subsidiary of Augsburg, Germany-based MAN Diesel & Turbo SE, has entered into an agreement to acquire 100% of the shares in the family-owned ELCA Engineering Ltd. near Johannesburg.

Closing of the transaction is subject to approval of the South African Competition Commission. The parties agreed not to disclose any financial details of the transaction.

With three sales and service locations already in Africa, MAN said the acquisition underlines the company’s growth strategy and enables it to offer an even broader range of services in the Sub-Saharan region. The company said this will help its service brand, MAN PrimeServ, to combine local flexibility with the competence of an original equipment manufacturer (OEM).

ELCA Engineering will keep serving customers under its established brand name. ELCA, which mainly provides repairs, servicing and overhaul of compressors, turbines, blowers and pumps, said it is supported by a recognized team of field service engineers with experience throughout the entire African continent.
