Chinese Engine Builders Expand Range
Chinese engine builders Hudong Heavy Machinery Co. Ltd. and Dalian Marine Diesel Works have received orders for MAN B&W Diesel K90MC-C engines for a series of 3500 and 4250 TEU vessels to be built in China. The K90MC-C engines from Dalian will go to SinoPacific who is building a series of 4250 TEU container vessels. Dalian Marine Diesel Works have also received orders for a 7S80MC for a VLCC to be manufactured by Dalian New Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. for China Shipping Group, Tanker Co.
This news comes less than two years after Hudong built the first MAN B&W S80MC engine in China. Both Hudong and Dalian have been producing MAN B&W Diesel engines since the mid-eighties and so far they total almost 750 engines a total output in excess of 7 000 000 kW. For both of the MAN B&W Diesel licensees this means an increase in output of MC engine power.
