Posted on February 25, 2005

The Siemens Power Generation Group (PG) has received an order to supply the power island for the Sagunto combined-cycle power plant in Spain. Siemens has also secured a long-term maintenance agreement for Sagunto. The total volume of the order for this project amounts to approximately US$607 million. The award of this order marks the start of the third stage of cooperation with Union Fenosa.

The 1200 MW power plant at Sagunto will be of identical design to the two plants already constructed for Union Fenosa - Campo de Gibraltar and Palos de la Frontera. The new power plant will be located in the vicinity of Valencia and comprise three units. Siemens scope of supply will comprise three SGT5-4000F (previously called V94.3A) gas turbines, three steam turbines and three generators. After the start of commercial operation scheduled for 2007, the natural gas-fired plant will operate in base- and intermediate-load duty.
