Posted on January 27, 2006

MAN B&W Diesel A/S, Denmark, has secured a new interesting contract for the supply of four generator sets for a diesel-electric natural gas hydrate integrate research vessel newbuilding in China. The vessel, which will be built by Wuchang Shipyard, Wuhan, is to be powered by three MAN B&W Diesel Holeby gen-sets type 6L27/38, together with a harbor/auxiliary gen-set type 9L16/24. The gen-sets are scheduled for delivery during November 2006.

The newbuilding, which is designed by the renowned MARIC Design Institute, Shanghai, is optimized for comprehensive marine survey and natural gas research operations.

Upon the shipyard’s completion and commissioning during 2007 the research vessel will be taken over by the owner and operator, the Chinese organization GuangZhou Marine Geological Survey.

Gen-set Sales Manager, Zhou Ming Li, MAN B&W Diesel, China, reports, “The contract was successfully settled due to the buyers’ (shipyard and owner) confidence in the performance of MAN B&W products, as well as perfect technical support and efficient aftersales service as a vital reason.”
