Follow On Steam Turbine Order for Alstom

Posted on February 22, 2006

ALSTOM has won a contract to supply a 215 MW steam turbine generator for the Afam VI combined-cycle power plant being constructed at Port Harcourt, Nigeria, just two months after winning the contract to supply three gas turbines.

ALSTOM will supply the 215 MW two-casing steam turbine generator and auxiliary equipment to the Korean EPC-contractor Daewoo E&C Co. Ltd, in charge of the engineering, procurement and construction for the end customer Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC).

The commercial operation of the combined-cycle power plant is scheduled for summer 2008.

ALSTOM will deliver the steam turbine generator within 13 months. The short delivery time, the reliability of the product and an innovative sideward exhaust solution which reduces the cost of the civil works were key winning points for ALSTOM.
