IHI to Go Electronic
It has been reported that Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co. (IHI) plans to convert all of its diesel ship engines to electronic controls before fiscal 2008. The company’s affiliate Diesel United Ltd. produces engines using electronic controls supplied by Wärtsilä. Of the 26 ship engines Diesel United will turn out in fiscal 2005, six will have electronic controls. By fiscal 2008, the plan is to have electronic controls on all of the 25 to 30 engines planned for production.
