Emerson Acquires Turbine Control Service Association

Emerson has acquired Turbine Control Service Associates Inc., an independent provider of generator excitation control systems for power plants. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Turbine Control Service Associates helps power plant operators improve generator performance and reliability by replacing aging controls with systems that take advantage of newer technology, the company said. The company's Digital Generator Controller system currently controls generation of thousands of megawatts at nuclear, fossil and hydroelectric power plants.

Founded in 1993, Turbine Control Service Associates’ generator excitation systems control a wide range of generators driven by large and small steam turbines, combustion turbines, and hydroelectric turbines. The company has offices in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, U.S.A., and San Luis Obispo, California, U.S.A.
