H Class Gas Turbine Coming To South Korea

Siemens has received an order from South Korean utility GS Electric Power and Services Co. Ltd. for its H Class gas turbine, marking the first time the company will supply a complete combined cycle power plant equipped with its new generation gas turbine.

Bugok 3, which has an electrical capacity of 400 MW, will have an efficiency of more than 60% and supply electricity to more than 300 000 people, Siemens said.

Siemens will supply the Bugok 3 power plant as a turnkey project. The scope of supply includes a new-generation SGT6-8000H gas turbine, SST6-5000HI-L steam turbine, a hydrogen-cooled generator SGEN6-2000H, a Benson HRSG, electrical equipment and the instrumentation and controls system SPPA-T3000. A long-term maintenance agreement was also concluded for the main components.

The natural gas-fired power plant is scheduled to come online in the summer of 2013.
