Saudi Arabia Banks On ABB For More Power

Posted on January 3, 2011

ABB received a US$39 million (€29.1 million) order from the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), Saudi Arabia’s national power transmission and distribution provider, to improve the efficiency of power transmission and distribution in the country’s Eastern Province.

ABB will supply equipment, which includes 13.8 kV capacitor banks for the existing substation infrastructure in 40 locations. These technologies will help improve the network's power factor, which is an indicator of the usable power available in the grid, ABB said. The project should be completed by mid 2011, according to ABB.
