Rolls-Royce GT Compressor Package for Offshore Project

Posted on August 25, 2004

Rolls-Royce has won a contract from Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Ltd. (DSME) on behalf of ExxonMobil Canada Production for the US$3.6 billion Sable Tier II compression project located offshore Nova Scotia. The package will include an RB211 6562 dry low emission (DLE) gas turbine driving a D12R8-6B Dresser-Rand compressor, controlled by a Rolls-Royce FT-110 system. It will be installed on a fixed platform in the Thebaud gas-gathering hub near Sable Island, 40 km north from the edge of the Scotian Shelf. The equipment will be packaged at the Rolls-Royce Mount Vernon, Ohio, U.S.A. facility, and then shipped to Long Beach, California, U.S.A. in the 2nd quarter, 2005. DSME will then ship the unit from Long Beach to South Korea for module assembly and then to Nova Scotia for installation on the platform where it will be used to transport natural gas to shore.
