Posted on July 27, 2005

Italian chemical company, Lonza S.p.A. has ordered a generator set package from UK based Centrax Gas Turbines. Centrax will supply a natural gas fueled CX501-KN7 outdoor package providing up to 5.8 MW of power. The package will be linked to a waste heat recovery boiler to generate steam. The Rolls-Royce 501-KN7 turbine is designed to have the flexibility of injecting steam back into the turbine to increase its power output with the added advantage of reducing emissions, said Centrax.

Lonza S.p.A. - the Italian branch of Lonza group, a Swiss multinational company headquartered in Scanzorosciate, Bergamo, is a leading company in the business of chemical intermediates, resins and compounds. This will be the company’s first CHP plant in Italy and will be at their site in San Giovanni Valdarno, 40 km south of Florence. The Centrax package will be on-site by the end of this year with installation completed by early 2006.
