Chinese Company Supplies Turkmenistan with Locomotives
China's Capital-Longji Sci-Tech Co Ltd. has supplied Turkmenistan the first lot of diesel locomotives and passenger train cars under a contract worth US$128.6 million, a source in the Turkmen Railroad Ministry told Interfax. He said the country had received two diesel locomotives and nine passenger cars.
Under the contract signed in October 2004, Turkmenistan will receive 47 diesel locomotives and 530 cars by the end of December 2005.
All of the locomotives and 50 of the passenger cars will be produced in China and all of the commercial cars will be purchased in Russia and Ukraine.
The Chinese company will perform warranty service for the equipment for two years and will then set up a service center in Turkmenistan.
