Damen Delivers Dutch Vessel

Posted on August 26, 2005

Damen Shipyards Gorinchem has officially handed over the Damen Stan Patrol 2005 "Zilvermeeuw" to the Dutch Customs. The "Zilvermeeuw’s" propulsion system consists of two MAN D 2840 LE401 diesels rated 1206 bkW at 2300 r/min transmitting power through the ZF 550 A gearboxes to twin Promarin fixed pitch propellers. Although the ship will sail at relatively slow patrol speeds most of the time, maximum speed is 23.5 knots. To enhance manoeuvrability at slow speed in narrow waterways and harbours, the gearboxes are fitted with trolling valves and a bow thruster has been installed.

This is the third vessel of this type, following the delivery of the Kokmeeuw and Mantelmeeuw - which were delivered to the Dutch Customs in 2004. A similar vessel was delivered in January in 2005 to the Dutch Marechaussee, only differing slightly in accommodation arrangement. The Damen Stan Patrol 2005 is a further development of the Damen Stan Patrol 1805, of which Damen has built 13 vessels for the Netherlands Police during the past years.
