Indian Power Plant Order for Siemens
The Siemens Power Generation Group (PG) announced it has received an order from Torrent Power Generation Limited, a subsidiary of the Torrent Group based in Ahmedabad, India for the construction of a turnkey, combined-cycle power plant with a capacity of 1100 MW. The new power plant SUGEN will be located in Akhakhol in the Gujarat Province; approximately 800 km north of Mumbai. The order is valued at over US$476 million.
The natural gas-fired power plant will include three units and, after the Paguthan combined-cycle power plant, is the second turnkey project that Siemens PG will have implemented for this customer. The Siemens PG scope of supply will encompass three SGT5-4000F gas turbines, three steam turbines and three generators. The company will also supply the plant’s electrical and I&C systems. Commissioning of the first unit is scheduled for 2007.
