Posted on July 21, 2005

GE Energy recently opened a new oil & gas service center in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. The new service center is a 1022 square meter facility located adjacent to the regional training center that GE Energy's oil and gas group opened last year in the industrial zone of Port Harcourt City. The center offers field service capabilities including installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, warranty management support, and related services for GE equipment. It also contains a repair workshop that offers inspection and repair services including the balancing of centrifugal compressors and gas turbine rotors, and upgrade and modification capabilities. The workshop covers a range of equipment produced by GE Energy as well as other manufacturers, including centrifugal compressors, gas turbines, pumps, valves and auxiliaries. The repair center is equipped with a 13-ton overhead crane, a 12-ton balancing machine, a 12-ton lathe, and light machine tools to perform a variety of functions such as turning, vertical boring, milling, drilling, cutting, grinding, power pressing and honing.
