Testing Completed On First Compression Package

Posted on August 16, 2005

Dresser-Rand announced that it has completed a full-load, full-pressure performance test on a Rolls-Royce Trent 60 Dry Low Emissions (DLE) gas turbine and a Dresser-Rand Datum Model D14 centrifugal compressor package at Dresser-Rand’s manufacturing and test facility in Olean, New York, U.S.A. This is the first time these units have been paired together on a compression train. They are to be used on the Dolphin Export Pipeline between Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. The test included full-pressure testing at over 140 Bar and 40 000 KW to simulate site conditions.

The ASME PTC10 Type I performance test is the culmination of efforts by Dresser-Rand and Rolls-Royce to design and produce equipment for the six export gas compressor trains that will be part of Dolphin Energy’s Dolphin Gas Project in the Middle East. The project represents the first application of the aero-derivative industrial Trent 60 engine as a compressor driver.

Following the completion of the string test, the client approved the equipment for release. The first two complete equipment trains were shipped from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. to Ras Laffan, Qatar, in mid-June.
