Capstone Turbine Expands Presence in South America

Capstone Turbine Corporation recently announced it named Supernova Energy Services as its distributor in Colombia. "Supernova Energy Services has a broad level of experience and strong network in Colombia," said Jim Crouse, Capstone's executive vice president, sales and marketing. "They are considered one of the top energy services companies in the area. With the addition of Supernova, Capstone's network in Central and South America has a strong base, making our products and services readily accessible to customers.

Supernova Energy Services (http://supernova-es.com/) designs and installs a variety of energy-related products and services that improve efficiency and optimize energy use for companies of all sizes. Supernova will offer Capstone microturbines for use in landfills, wastewater treatment plants, agricultural operations, biogas and combined heat and power applications.

In 2005, the World Bank reported that interruptions in electrical service in Colombia were highest among all Latin American countries. The average number of interruptions per subscriber was 185.7, far above the regional average of 13 interruptions. The duration of interruptions per subscriber was 66 hours which was nearly five times longer than other Latin American countries.
