Tognum Receives Orders For Gas Turbine Plants

Posted on August 4, 2010

Tognum, a propulsion and power products company, has received orders from two German service providers in the energy sector. Each contract covers the supply of a gas turbine plant under license from General Electric (GE), and includes design, assembly and commissioning of the plants.

The turbines, which will generate power and heat, will go into service with HSE in Darmstadt, Germany, an energy and infrastructure service provider, and with Versorgungs und Verkehrsgesellschaft Saarbrücken mbH (VVS). The combined value of orders is US$52.6 million (€40 million). Tognum will supply gas turbines, gear transmission units, generators, air supply systems and control plants.

Tognum will supply one plant with two GE LM6000 turbines for HSE’s gas turbine facility in Darmstadt during the second quarter of 2011, with the plant scheduled to go online in spring 2012. Each of the turbines will generate 50 MW.

VVS will use a smaller GE LM2500 turbine for its combined heat and power plant in Saarbrücken, Germany, which is set to go into service at the start of 2012. The plant will produce 32 MW of electricity for the public grid while 33 MW of thermal energy will supply the centralized heat generation grid.
