Tognum Starts Construction On Facility For MTU In Germany

Posted on August 10, 2010

Tognum, a propulsion and power products company, began construction in Kluftern near Friedrichshafen, Germany, for the future Materials Management Center for its subsidiary MTU.

The new facility, which will supply components and assemblies to the Friedrichshafen plants and other locations in MTU’s global production network, will be operational in mid 2012. The total investment in the project is around US$61.5 million (€47 million).

The center will replace several other off-site warehousing facilities. Tognum also has a new assembly and production facility under development in Aiken, South Carolina, U.S.A., which will start its operations next fall.

Other developments are taking place from Tognum. In Asia, Tognum is setting up a development location in Pune, India, and is introducing an assembly line for distributed energy plants in its Suzhou facility in China. In the future, several production locations will receive parts from the MTU center.
