Voith Turbo To Supply 42 Rail Packs To China

China South Locomotive & Rolling Stock (CSR) received a contract from SNCFT Tunisian State Railways for the delivery of 20 diesel railcars.

Voith Turbo, which creates hydrodynamic drive, coupling and braking systems for road, rail and industrial applications, will supply 42 rail packs with T212bre turbo transmissions, SK/KE 485 final drives, roof-mounted cooling systems, cardan shafts and Schaku couplers for the project. Each vehicle has two Voith Turbo power packs rated at 530 kW.

Voith Turbo will deliver the first power packs to China in March 2011. The vehicles will be manufactured in Nanjing, China, with the first prototype railcar set for testing in Tunisia, Africa, in mid-2011. All vehicles, which will be placed on two different routes around Tunis, Tunisia, are schedule to be delivered to Tunisia by 2012.
