Microturbine Order For Oman

Capstone sending its first units to country; utilizing flared gas

Posted on July 9, 2014

Capstone Turbine Corp., a clean technology manufacturer of microturbine energy systems, secured its first order in Oman for oil and gas production.

The order, consisting of two Capstone C65 (65 kW) high pressure natural gas (HPNG) microturbines, was secured by PipeLine Supply Co., Capstone's exclusive distributor for Oman and Qatar.

The end use customer, Consolidated Contractors Energy Development (CCED), said it chose Capstone microturbines because of their fit in flare gas to power roles. Capstone microturbines can run on various fuels including associated gas or flare gas, a byproduct of the oil extraction process that is often burned off, or flared.

Capstone said its microturbines utilize this gas to generate clean and green power for their operations, so CCED has simultaneously improved operational efficiency and reduced operational costs by utilizing this associated gas.
