Siemens Energy has been awarded a long-term agreement to perform service and maintenance for three Siemens SGT6-5000F gas turbines that will be installed at Shell Canada's Carmon Creek in situ project currently under construction in northern Alberta, Canada.

The Carmon Creek project, located on Shell's Peace River heavy oil leases, is expected to produce about 80 000 barrels/day of bitumen using steam recovery methods.

In addition to supplying the gas turbines, Siemens will also provide service and maintenance over an initial period of 17 years to help ensure the long-term optimum performance of the advanced F-class gas turbines, the company said.
