New Damen Platform Supply Vessel

Damen Shipyards Gorinchem, The Netherlands and Wilson Sons, Brazil have signed a contract and license agreement for the construction of a Damen Platform Supply Vessel 7216. The nearly 72 meter long vessel will be built by Wilson Sons at their shipyard in Guaruja (Santos), Brazil. Damen will provide engineering, construction drawings and a material package.

Propulsion will be based on a diesel - electric propulsion system, comprising four main generators, two electric motors and two 1500 kW CPP Azimuth Rudder Propellers. Twin 600 kW electric bow thrusters are provided with CPP. The tank lay-out includes fuel oil, potable water, ballast/drilling water, liquid mud and dry bulk. The Damen PSV 7216 will enter into service during the second half of 2006.

The vessel, operated by Wilson Sons, will enter into a charter contract with Petrobras and fully complies with their requirements. The total deadweight is 3100 tons, the available deck area 630 square meters with a maximum deck load of 1000 tons.
