HPI Acquires Turbine Generator Control Specialist

Posted on June 29, 2009

HPI, LLC, a supplier of turbine control solutions and turnkey power plants, has acquired Turbine Generator Control Specialist (TGCS), a company specializing in repairs, modifications, control systems, and evaluations of turbines. TGCS is headquartered in Verona, Virginia and has provided consulting services to utility and operating companies for over 21 years.

As part of the acquisition, TGCS services are now available exclusively through HPI. TGCS, in turn, will leverage the global HPI client base in the energy and utilities markets. Jim Vines, President and CEO of TGCS, will lead the HPI Mechanical Group and train HPI engineers in diagnostics and maintenance on older turbines.

“The addition of TGCS is an important addition to our business as it expands the depth and breadth of the HPI Mechanical Group”, says Hal Pontez, President and CEO of HPI. “The addition of the TGCS staff nicely complements and adds deeply experienced consulting capacity to our rapidly growing mechanical services business. We pride ourselves in staffing our project teams with experienced professionals and knew that the capabilities of TGCS would be strategic to our business.”

Founded in 2002, HPI is a technological leader in turbine solutions including retrofit control, mechanical inspection/overhaul, turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction of power plants. HPI has expanded its capabilities from stand-alone turbomachinery control to complete balance of plant systems.
