Wärtsilä has opened a new office and workshop facilities in Veracruz, Mexico, which is the largest container shipping port in the country and is home to the Mexican Merchant Marine Academy. The facilities will further expand Wärtsilä's offering in all market segments, especially in the marine and offshore segments. Since Wärtsilä is a strong player in the automation field, customers from the industrial market will also benefit.

The new facilities, which cover an area of over 4000 square meters, have been set up to enhance Wärtsilä's capabilities in the region. The new 1000 square meter workshop features an optimized layout for equipment, and will expand Wärtsilä's current services offering to include cylinder head and liner repairs, fuel system, governor and turbocharger maintenance and repair, as well as adding new capabilities for machining operations and increased lifting capacity.

The workshop's employees are trained in the disciplines needed to maintain quality products and services, and to fuel growth opportunities. The new facility will be able to benefit from the training services available through the Marine Academy in Veracruz.
