Alstom Signs Long-term Parts Agreement

Posted on March 27, 2006

ALSTOM Power Service recently signed a six year, Long Term Parts Agreement (LTPA) with the Power Generation Company of Trinidad and Tobago Ltd (POWERGEN). The scope of the agreement covers the exclusive supply of new GT11D5 and DM gas turbine blading, plus all hot gas path components and other GT supplementary parts until 2011.

The agreement also included the supply, and the first installation of its kind, of Power Service's new GT11DC compressor. The compressor is designed to create increased mass flow through the unit leading to increased power output. Late last year, the new compressor along with new blading for turbine stages 1 - 3 was installed in one gas turbine at the plant. Measured performance is quite encouraging with the new compressor blading resulting in significantly increased power output, according to Alstom.

POWERGEN has four ALSTOM GT11D5 gas turbines operating in open cycle mode at the Point Lisas plant. The engines are normally run at base load and are cycled daily.
