Siemens to Supply Compressors to China

Posted on March 21, 2007

The Siemens Power Generation Group (PG) has been awarded a number of orders for compressors and compressor trains in China. The combined order value is more than EUR42 million.

Under contract to Yisheng Dahua Petrochemical, a recently formed joint venture, Siemens PG will supply two compressor trains for a PTA (pure terephtalic acid) production plant in Dalian, which is located in Liaonin Province in northeast China. The Dalian plant has an annual production capacity of 1.2 million tonnes of PTA. The white powder is used in the production of synthetic materials such as polyester and polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Last year, global PTA demand rose to over 30 million tonnes. The two identical compressor trains will each consist of a five-stage air compressor and a radial expansion turbine. They will be driven by SST-600 steam turbines.

PG has also secured orders from Linde Engineering. For the new Shougang Jingtang iron and steel mill in Caofeidian, located some 220 kilometers northeast of Beijing, Siemens PG will supply two identical high-pressure air compressors and two nitrogen product compressors.

For a chemical plant operated by the Huainan Chemical Group Siemens will supply a compressor train comprising an STC-SH radial single-shaft compressor and an STC-GV high-pressure integrally geared compressor. The two compressors are required for oxygen supply to the chemical plant in Huainan in southeast China.
