HHI Completes Commissioning Test for Packaged Power Stations

Posted on March 26, 2009

Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (HHI) announced it has completed its official commissioning test for the Packaged Power Stations (PPS) in Republic of Namibia, Africa.

As the fourth onshore turn-key power plant project of HHI in Africa (it comes on the heels of a project in Malawi) this project began to supply electricity to Langer Heinrich uranium mine in Namibia last December. With the successful commissioning and handover of the PPS to the client in February, it has been providing 10 MW of stable electric power, according to HHI.

The company believes that the successful completion of this project demonstrates the capabilities of its in-house brand HiMSEN engine in southern Africa. HHI earned credit from its customers by successfully constructing, commissioning and delivering the plant in just three months despite Africa’s hostile working conditions. This project will serve as a bridgehead for HHI not only to secure the possible future extension of the project, but also to export HHI’s power facilities for similar power projects in southern Africa.
