TGK-9 Turns To GE For Power

Posted on March 17, 2011

TGK-9, a Russian power generation company and an affiliate of Integrated Energy Systems (IES), has selected advanced gas turbine technology from GE for a combined-cycle plant that will supply heat and electricity for the residents of Berezniki, an industrial city in Russia’s Urals Federal District.

GE will supply two Frame 6FA gas turbine and associated generators plus technical assistance, on-site training and performance testing for the combined-cycle project, which is expected to produce 220 MW of new power for the region. The electricity will be distributed under an agreement between the Russian Ministry of Energy and IES, a private power supply and gas distribution company in Russia.

GE’s 6FA gas turbines are designed for use in midrange combined-cycle power plants as well as industrial and cogeneration applications. More than 100 units are installed globally and have more than 3 million hours of service, GE said.
