Posted on February 27, 2013

Weichai Power, a Chinese engine manufacturer, and Ricardo will collaborate on a pre-concept study for a new family of engines, with configurations ranging from inline six-cylinder to V16 variants. The new engine family is intended for power generation applications of 1 to 3 MW.

The engines will be targeted at Chinese and export markets. They also are intended to achieve internationally competitive levels of performance, fuel economy, durability and cost of ownership, the companies said.

“We are extremely proud to be able to announce this new collaboration with Weichai Power,” said Ricardo Asia president Gary Tan. “We look forward to progressing the design of a world-class engine family with Weichai in the power generation and related industrial sectors.”
