Cat generator sets to power CNOOC platform, FPSO; delivery set for summer 2013

Caterpillar Global Petroleum announced its 16CM32C generator sets have been selected to provide main power for a fixed platform and a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit slated to operate in the Enping Oilfield in the South China Sea.

Four 16CM32C generator sets will be installed on the fixed drilling production platform; the remaining four will be installed on the FPSO, with the option to purchase another 2 generator sets at a future date.

Each of the 16CM32C generator sets offers 7.6 MW and 60 Hz at 720 r/min. CNOOC China Ltd. placed the order and delivery of the units, including auxiliary systems, is scheduled for summer 2013.

Manufactured in Rostock, Germany, the CM32C generator sets meet IMO Tier 2 emissions standards and feature a package that CAT said it developed for CNOOC as a standard for crude oil handling with enhanced ease of installation and reduced complexity.

Generally, the CM32 generator sets allow for customization options to meet exact customer specifications and reduce installation time, the company said.
