Hospitals Order Microturbine Power

Capstone receives two orders totaling 2.6 MW; microturbines to be used in CHP and CCHP applications

Posted on March 4, 2014

Capstone Turbine Corp. has received orders for two C800s (800 kW each) and a Capstone C1000 (1 MW) to be used in two Southern California, U.S.A., hospitals.

Regatta Solutions secured the first order and will install two C800 natural gas-fueled microturbines at a Los Angeles hospital. The C800s will be used in a combined heat and power (CHP) application to offset the facility’s electric base-load in addition to providing steam and hot water. The site is expected to be commissioned in late 2014.

Regatta Solutions will also install the natural gas-fueled C1000 at another hospital in Los Angeles. This microturbine will be deployed in a combined cooling heat and power (CCHP) application, offsetting the electric base-load and utilizing the exhaust heat to provide absorption chilling.
