CH2M Hill Summoned For Power Plant Expansion

Posted on May 6, 2011

CH2M Hill, a global consulting, design, construction, and operations firm, has received a contract for the expansion of the Los Esteros Critical Energy Facility, located in San Jose, California, U.S.A. The owner is Los Esteros Critical Energy Facility, LLC, an indirect, wholly-owned subsidiary of Calpine Corp.

CH2M Hill will serve as the EPC contractor, providing engineering, procurement and construction for the facility expansion, which will convert the existing natural gas-fired, simple-cycle electric generation peaking facility to combined-cycle operation.

The plant currently uses four GE LM6000 combustion turbines. A steam turbine-generator, four heat recovery steam generators and auxiliary plant equipment will be added.

Los Esteros will be responsible for overall project development, procurement of major equipment (HRSGs, steam turbine – generator and generator step-up transformer, condenser and cooling tower), and for providing design basis, performance requirements and scope.
