Posted on May 10, 2011

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. (MHI) has received an order for two 350 MW steam turbines, which will be installed at two large-scale coal-fired thermal power plants in Morocco, Africa.

Jorf Lasfar Energy Co. 5&6 (JLEC 5&6), a power plant company owned by Abu Dhabi National Energy Co. (TAQA), will build the plant. The turbines are scheduled for delivery to a consortium formed by Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co. Ltd. and Mitsui & Co. Ltd. for the construction project.

The power plants will be built in the existing power station in the Jorf Lasfar district near El Jadida in the southwest of Casablanca, Morocco. The power plants will be built as the No. 5 and No. 6 units to expand the station and adjoin existing power plants operated by JLEC. In addition to supplying the turbines, MHI will also send technical advisors.
