New Locomotive Facility Coming From GE Transportation

GE Transportation plans to open a new 83 600 m² locomotive manufacturing facility in Fort Worth, Texas, U.S.A., investing up to US$96 million (€67.2 million) and creating more than 500 manufacturing jobs. GE will also expand its manufacturing workforce at its Erie, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. plant by adding 250 workers, the company said.

The new facility will manufacture, assemble and remanufacture rail and transportation-related products. The hiring process will start later this year, with production workers consisting of welders, assemblers, painters and other skilled labor positions, GE said. Production will start by 2012.
