Driving Oil & Gas Innovations
Alliance to focus on artificial lift, advanced drilling technologies, water treatment innovations
GE Oil & Gas and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, U.S.A., energy exploration and production company Devon Energy Corp. have signed a new technology collaboration agreement (TCA).
GE said the agreement aims to enhance the performance and economics of unconventional oil and natural gas projects. The companies will work with GE’s Oil & Gas Technology Center in Oklahoma City – now under construction – to research unconventional oil and natural gas technologies.
GE and Devon will collaborate on advancing innovations in three specific areas: artificial lift systems used for increasing the flow of liquids from production wells; advanced drilling technologies to improve performance and reduce costs and environmental impact; and water treatment and processing to reduce water use and better utilize water resources for unconventional oil and natural gas development.
GE’s new US$125 million Oil & Gas Technology Center in Oklahoma is due to open in the third quarter of 2015.
